  • With Tall Grass having been delayed, no dirt being turned for Terra Cotta for some time yet, it would seem the soonest that homes would even begin to go in would be 18 months from now. In addition to that, the number of homes to come on-line from Terra Cotta will have a minimal impact to School District 46. It would seem as though our school board is rushing to build their empire without concern towards us the residents. This is NOT an entitlement program. They are proposing to use the tax payers money to build their fifedom. The 18MM cost being proposed is only a fraction of what will actually be needed. They do not discuss any operational costs or how that will be funded. They do not talk about the bonds and current debt. We had refinanced our debt and actually drew out more funds - where did that money go and why didn't they tell us as residents honestly they were doing that? What is our bonding capacity? Will they be using premium bonds? If they are looking to use premium bonds, this fifedom could very well cost us nearly 49MM dollars and not the 18MM in bonds they're talking about. We have other options to building this massive project and it is not being explored. We need to send a wake up call to our school board that they do not have cart blanche with our money. We need to have open and honest discussions with all tax payers. We need all information to be put on the table so the tax payers can make informed decisions. We need a school board that is willing to do their job and make fiscally responsible decisions and focus on better educating our children.
